This month, we are
spotlighting Noble Romance Publishing.
Below please find a brief interview with Jill Noble, Co-Owner and
Editor In Chief.
Welcome, Jill!
JN: Hi, Pam, and
thank you so much for having me here. I appreciate Literary Nymphs
giving me the opportunity to talk about our company.
Pam: Please tell us why
you decided to start Noble
Romance Publishing.
JN: Good
question. After all, there are quite a few ePublishers out there
already. I started Noble Romance Publishing because it’s my
passion. I’ve lived and breathed books, writing, editing, etc. my
entire life. Working with talented writers, being a part of this
industry, for me, is pure pleasure. That’s the main reason.
I also believed there was
a need for high-quality erotic romance with a bit of a “kinkier”
edge. We’re open to exploring various “fetish” concepts, but only
within the context of a romantic relationship. Additionally, every story
must be well-written and entertaining. We’re not seeking porn, and
we’re not publishing porn. We simply believe there’s room for a wide
variety of kink within a loving, romantic relationship.
Pam: If you could change
one thing, what would it be?
JN:
The unfair and sometimes borderline criminal treatment of some
authors by some publishers. I’m speaking specifically of the latest
fiascos in the ePublishing industry. The poor behavior of a few
unethical people are affecting us all.
Pam: As a publisher, what
is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?
JN:
Finding the needle in the haystack – that one amazingly well-written
story that stands out in the crowd.
Pam: What advice would
you give potential authors who want to get published?
JN:
Keep writing. Keep submitting. And keep studying your craft. Pick one
thing – point-of-view, character development, scene/sequel – and
learn as much as you can about it. Join a critique group – you’d be
surprised how much you can learn, simply by critiquing someone else’s
work. Network…writing is a lonely business sometimes.
Pam: What can we expect
from Noble in the future?
JN:
Well, we have a lot of major
changes/additions coming over the next few years. Our business plan
calls for us to move into print publishing within the next 2 years. We
also have contacts in over 17 countries, so we’re uniquely positioned
regarding foreign language translations. Stage II of our Web site design
is currently underway – we’re
adding a few really cool “bells and whistles” that I think
readers and authors are going to love.
And we hope to provide a
lot of wonderful, kinky romance novels. J
Pam: Based on the recent
closings of several e-publishers, has it been worth it?
JN:
Absolutely. It’s worth it, in part, *because* of the recent
closings. The industry needs more reputable publishers.
Pam:
What sets Noble
Romance Publishing “apart” from the other e-publishers?
JN: Our willingness to look at certain sexual
fetishes, definitely. But as I said, every story must be well-written
and entertaining, and above all, a romance. Also, every sex scene must
move the story forward in some way. If I’m reading a submission and I
find myself skimming over the intimate encounters in order to get back
to the “meat” of the story, chances are, I’m not going to offer
the author a contract.
Pam: How can readers, and
potential authors, contact Noble
Romance Publishing?
JN: We
have a Web site at www.nobleromance.com,
and a MySpace page at www.myspace.com/nobleromancepublishing.
We also have a brand new Yahoo!
Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NobleRomancePublishing.
Readers or authors who
have a specific question can contact me at jill@nobleromance.com.
Pam: Thank
you very much for your time, Jill, and Literary Nymphs wishes Noble
Romance Publishing many successes in the future!
JN: Thank
you again, Pam, for the opportunity to let authors and readers know more
about our company. And we appreciate your good wishes.
Thank you!!!
